Opening for a New Board Member
Due to work commitments, Jim Johnson will be stepping down from the board coming up in 2011. The current board is requesting that any interested residents contact Jim at westburygardens@gmail.com to submit themselves for consideration. In January, the board will interview these candidates and select a replacement who will serve out the remainder of Jim's term - until November of 2011.
Once Jim steps down, this website and the email address will be maintained by another member of the board. Thanks!

New Board Member
At the annual meeting in November, Tom Martin was elected to the board to replace long-time board member Don Hurst. Congratulations and welcome aboard to Tom, and a fond farewell and much thanks to Don for his many years of service to the Westbury Gardens community.

September Updates - from Sept 15 Board Meeting
- The repair/updating of all of our carports is near completion. Unfortunately, delays in an insurance payment have delayed their completion for some time, but the final two should be completed within about three weeks. This funding is also holding up the final round of roof repairs.
- Unfortunately the Bellaire Recycling Center will be closing as of Sept 30. This has been the primary recycling location for many of us, but due to their curbside recycling service, they're discontinuing the Center. There is, however, a City of Houston Recycling Center located at 5900 Westpark Drive zip code: 77057. With our community's current priorities to improvement in the WG structures, sidewalks, etc. now is not, unfortunately, an opportune time for us to add on-site recycling to our budget.
- Inquiries have been made regarding further adjustment to our hot water temperature, but reducing the temp is not an option. Since the boilers serve large sections of the property, though one home's water is extremely hot, homes on the other end of the circulation system have much cooler water by the time it reaches them.
- Be aware that the annual Westbury Gardens annual meeting is coming up in November. (More information forthcoming when the space and date is confirmed.) Currently there is one seat on the board that will be up for election: the seat currently held by Don Hurst. If you are interested in running for this position, please contact Jim Johnson through the email address on this site.
- Reminder: There is no parking in fire lanes throughout the property. Vehicles parked in a fire lane are subject to immediate towing at the owner's expense! Additional signs and painting at the curbs will be added soon to reinforce this, but parking in the driveway space itself is a violation, so vehicles could be towed immediately! Use the designated, covered spaces, the surrounding streets, or the parking area to the south of the property.

Updates from July 21 Board Meeting
Quick overview of major issues:
- Financial reserve will be lower than usual until early 2011 to pay for the completion of carports and roofs.
- Monthly electric charges seem to be down about 10%, probably due to changing the carport light to compact florescent bulbs.
- Dog walk at the NE entrance will begin to be planted after carport completed. The "No Parking" areas near there will be painted at that time as well to clarify the area that must be left open for emergency vehicle access.
- The south laundry room will be closed to improve security very soon.
- There have been some electrical problems caused by the roofing in the last month. The roofers are addressing this, but if you have any concerns, you should contact the maintenance department at Creative.
- An overall reminder to residents: If you have a maintenance or repair concern, you should contact the maintenance department at Creative rather than contacting AJ – these kinds of reports being addressed to him will only cause delays as he will have to forward them to maintenance anyway.
