July Meeting
The July meeting of the WG board will be held Wednesday, July 10th, at 7 p.m. at Parker Elementary School, 10626 Atwell.

Mid-May Updates
New Board Member
Board member Susan Shafer has resigned. The board would like to thank her for her service to the community.
In accordance with the bylaws, the board has appointed Jean Finch to serve in this position until the annual meeting in November. Jean has submitted the following:
Ongoing Projects
Your board is working actively to address maintenance issues that have been deferred in the past. Two major projects currently under way are the replacement of the main sewer lines under the 5200 building ("The Palace") and the 5238 building in The Spanish Courtyard. Please pardon the inconvenience. Both of these buildings have been on routine maintenance for a number of years to lessen backups, and your board is hoping to have all such longstanding plumbing issues addressed in the future as funds allow.
Work Orders
Remember that we may not know you have a problem if you do not place a work order. The maintenance staff at Creative is happy to help you place work orders. You may submit them at www.cmctx.com or phone them in to Creative at 713-772-4420 . Your board members are always willing to help with maintenance issues, but understand that the most efficient course of action is to notify the maintenance department directly, since frequently they will have questions for you. Anyone can place a work order regarding common area issues.

I have lived
at Westbury Gardens with my husband, Lee, since October of 1999 in the 5217
building. I am retired from Baylor College of Medicine, where I worked for a
cardiovascular surgeon as a medical records abstractor doing research for
studies.
My main
concern as a resident and homeowner is: when doing repairs/maintenance we
actually fix problems, when economically feasible and cost effective, rather than simply putting band aids
on them.
Since I am
retired and home most of the time, I am able to walk the property and observe
how things are progressing or deteriorating. Being systematic and detail
oriented, I feel I can help organize and prioritize.
I DO NOT
want to see the property fall back into the condition it was in the first years
we lived here. At that time the property manager rarely visited the property, work orders were ignored or delayed,
and some repairs that were desperately needed did not see work done for years.
Westbury
Gardens is a community within Houston, yet feels separate from the hub-bub of
city life; a community within a community, if you will.
I’d like to
represent my fellow homeowners and residents to help meet the property’s
potential.

June Meeting
The next monthly board meeting will be on Wednesday, June 5th at 7pm at Parker Elementary School, 10626 Atwell. The normal schedule of meeting on the second Wednesday of the month will resume in July.

Upcoming Meetings and More
Hello,
There will no be no Board Meeting in May. The next meeting will be held in June. Please watch for an announcement for date and time.
We also welcome our new property manager, Connie Vernon. Connie has 19 years experience in property management and is looking forward to meeting everyone at the June meeting. The Board would also like to thank outgoing property manager, Tim Burch, for his dedicated service to Westbury Gardens, working very hard to improve our financial situation and property.

Drainage on Arboles Drive
Please help us get rid of the standing water and mud issue on the
Arboles cul-de-sac. Arboles is a city street and if enough complaints are
received about the lack of sewer drain on the south side of the loop at the east end of the street,
they will look into the problem. Please call 311 to report this problem
as often as you can. Thanks to resident Dan Lowe for working on this.

New Appointments
The board has selected Beth Addison to serve in the board position
vacated by Jason Walkoviak. Beth has been a resident-owner for over
eight years and walks the property several times each day with her dog
Cindy Lou. She is a clinical social worker and has demonstrated an even
and calm demeanor.
The board would also like to announce the appointment of resident-owner John Merullo as our new Blogmaster. John is a manager for the Houston Public Library System and has built several blogs. He can be seen frequently on the property walking his dog Hyvvie. He has many great ideas for our blog, so stay tuned!

Board Position & January Meeting (Wednesday, January 16th 2013)
Board member Jason Walkoviak has announced his resignation effective January 16th. Those interested in filling this position may be placed in nomination by submitting a brief statement to the board either via email at westburygardens@gmail.com or by giving such to a board member. All nominations to be considered must be received by Friday, January 11th. The board will interview the candidates and appoint the new board member to be announced at the monthly meeting on Wednesday, January 16th.
